Paper filigree is an ancient craft that has recently come into vogue in both the crafting and art worlds. Examples of quilling can be found in 18th Century museum collections around the world. Modern quilling uses tradition and contemporary shapes to create designs and recreate objects in the world around us. The basic item used are strips of paper in various colours and sizes. Your custom design and creation is the result of a consultation with the artist, and then designed to last for many years. Whether whimsical, sourced in nature, or a stylized monogram – custom quilled items are meant to satisfy and bring joy!
Handmade, custom orders are typically completed in two weeks or less.
Absolutely! Your ideas form the basis for the creation - the colours and the design. Items created based on nature (i.e. birds, amimals) are created based on pictures taken in nature.
Quilled items are made of archival quality paper that is fade resistant. They are not waterproof. They will fade, eventually, if placed in direct sunlight. Items that are not behind glass such as Christmas Ornaments and jewellery are moderately delicate, but handling with care will make sure they last for many many year.
